Once primed, the other option becomes available after 4 minutes. Kayn Top has a 47.7% win rate with 0.2% pick rate in Emerald + and is currently ranked D tier. Based on our analysis of 1 138 matches in patch 14.16 the best build for Kayn is Eclipse, Plated Steelcaps, Black Cleaver, Manamune, and Spear of Shojin.
Rhaast Kayn is the stronger of the two transformations. Even though you don't deal as much damage as Shadow Assassin, the extra percentage health damage, the healing, and the crowd control Rhaast Kayn has to offer make him a really strong champion.
To get a transformation, Kayn has to damage an enemy champion to obtain Darkin Scythe passive stacks. Damaging melee champions grants him the Rhaast (red) Kayn transformation stacks. On the other hand, doing damage to ranged champions grants him the Shadow Assassin (blue) Kayn transformation stacks.
Based on the analysis of 83 matches in Emerald + in Patch 14.16, Kayn has a 48.2% win rate against Yone in the Top, which is 2.4% lower than expected win rate of Kayn. This means that Kayn is more likely to lose the game against Yone than on average.
The blue streak in Kayn's hair is the result of using Rhaast. Rhaast's corruption of Kayn's left arm is able to be reverted back to normal by either Rhaast's or Kayn's will.
